The World in Fast Forward

God doesn’t have to see things unfold at 60 seconds per minute. Maybe it looks faster to him.   As I’m listening to Marilynne Robinson‘s book “Home” she mentioned how God could see an oak tree jump out of the ground.   I guess that’s right.  They seem to grow so slowly to us but to God flowers must be like fireworks and trees like children jumping for joy.

"Some Eloquent Graffiti..."

There's a quote from an Iron & Wine song for you. "Trapeze Swinger" is a gem.

In it, Sam Beam's mellow voice spins a yarn that is dreamlike. Both the visual images painted by the lyrics and the meandering way the images are arrived at with little obvious connectivity, indicate otherworldliness.

And then they went on to say that the pearly gates

    Had some eloquent graffiti

Like "We'll meet again" and "Fuck the man"

And "Tell my mother not to worry"

I think we are all predisposed to thinking that God is 'the man'. We say "down with the man!" and in our hearts, ultimately, we are raging against God's authority.

But God isn't 'the man'. God is the liberator. I love you.
